The 1984 Olympics

Considered one of the greatest Olympic Games of all time, the 1984 Olympics saw Los Angeles play host to the legendary athletic festival. Officially known as the Games of the XXIII Olympiad, was notable for a large-scale boycott by Eastern Bloc countries including the Soviet Union and East Germany, as well as Cuba, Iran and Libya. The boycotting nations hosted their own event, which they called the Friendship Games.
